Who can use the official binaries for free?

Individuals acting outside a business activity, and organizations whose worldwide consolidated gross revenue is no more than EUR 100,000 before VAT for the most recently closed financial year.

The threshold covers the user entity, every parent, subsidiary and entity under common control. Foreign revenue is converted using the European Central Bank annual average reference rate.

What is allowed?

• Viewing and inspecting the published source code.
• Compiling a strictly unchanged copy for private use only.
• Using official binaries when the user meets the revenue conditions.
• Owning and exploiting the music created through an authorized use.

What is prohibited?

Modification, derivative works, redistribution, mirrors, exploited forks, repackaging, resale, sublicensing, integration into another product and removal of ownership notices are not permitted.

Third parties may not use the software to train, adapt, evaluate or improve an AI model, or to create a dataset intended for that purpose.

Commercial license above the threshold

Any professional use by or for an organization above EUR 100,000 in worldwide consolidated gross revenue requires a separate written and paid commercial license before use begins.

GitHub and third-party components

Public repositories remain subject to GitHub’s Terms of Service. GitHub and its users retain the platform rights granted by those terms, including viewing and forking within the service. The UWdeVST license grants no additional modification or commercial rights.

JUCE and other third-party components remain governed by their own licenses and notices.

Earlier releases and legal review

Version 1.0 applies prospectively to versions that expressly include it. It does not withdraw rights already granted by the license accompanying an earlier release. This custom license still requires review by qualified legal counsel before it is relied upon for a commercial transaction.
