Double Bass · Fingered · Slap
A round foundation, a singing line or percussive accents. Place the notes around the kick and make the rests part of the groove.
Sub · Boom · Distorted
Deep sustains and more pronounced attacks. Write a line around a trap, garage or phonk pulse without filling every beat.
Moog · Reese · Acid
A house pulse, a drum and bass motif or an acid line. Shape the filter and character to bring movement into the low end.
Ligne de faille builds a half-time trap groove at 140 BPM in F minor. Sub 808 sustains and glides alternate with rests, supporting the pulse while leaving the attacks room to breathe.

Upright Bass · 104 BPM · E minor · 6/8
Choose a model, shape the envelope and find the balance with your kick.
Space, colour and dynamics: choose the available effects around the role of the instrument.
Reverb and Delay can open up a more melodic passage above the low foundation. Keep the dry attack clear, and use the silences to hear the tails.
Try Saturation for a more pronounced texture or Chorus for movement, where available. Compare with the untreated sound at a similar level.
Transients, Compressor, Equalizer and Limiter help shape the final balance. Make these decisions while the other instruments are playing.
One model per composition, with rhythms and articulations that change its role in the track.
A neo-soul groove at 98 BPM, using syncopation to answer the kick.
Funk at 112 BPM, alternating low accents and upper-register responses.
A dark UK garage pulse at 118 BPM in D minor, with a more pronounced 808.
A phonk line at 150 BPM in G minor brings a rougher texture forward.
An analogue-inspired bass in a house motif at 116 BPM in C minor.
A drum and bass part at 170 BPM, built around movement and register contrasts.
Acid accents and repetition at 128 BPM put the line in motion.

Measured processing time per audio block in an offline VST3 host, after warm-up. Three 60-second renders per case; 128, 256 and 512-sample blocks. Exposed reverb, delay, chorus, flanger and phaser controls were toggled; other processing kept its preset settings. The stress setting was selected from the programs exposed to this host. These figures describe this configuration, not minimum requirements or guaranteed real-time DAW performance.
Linux installation and dependencies checked in a Debian container. Audio hardware and Linux DAWs were not tested.
